Meet the new guy!

Last week we went to pick up the newest member of the Two Spring Chicks flock, our new rooster.  The hens gave him a warm welcome.  Well actually that couldn't be any farther from the truth.  They put him in place as soon as he stepped out of the crate.  Although he has made wonderful strides up the pecking order since his first week here.

This is him in what we have called his " time out corner".
He spent most of his first few days here, staring at the wall. (and that is exactly how the hens liked it)

Poor little guy. Here he is hiding under the nesting boxes.
Usually the roosters on our farm have names. In the past we have had very masculine names such as Manly, Tommy,Jesse James and Reggie. But this little feller doesn't quite fit into anything like that yet. He is so funny to watch. He walks like road runner, thrusting out each leg very uncertainly as if he's not sure how they work yet. And listening to him try out his voice is hilarious, cracking and hitting a higher pitch each time. So instead of a big boy name he has earned himself nick names like, Strut, Teenie Bopper, and Road runner  : )

We will be selling the extra chicks, strait run. Meaning they will not be sexed. I'd be more than happy to reserve some for you. Thanks and let us know if you have any questions.
